PRESS STATEMENT

6 October 2026
Proceedings against Aegean Boat Report founder adjourned until 6 April 2027

I was represented at the hearing by my lawyer, Zacharias Kesses, acting under my authorisation. I could not attend in person because I am subject to an arrest warrant.

The case rests on an extraordinarily unjust and fundamentally flawed indictment. It portrays the work of Aegean Boat Report as criminal despite its inconsistency with international law and with what Greek courts have recognised in previous decisions.

My lawyer submitted a motion challenging the validity of the summons to the accused. The court did not rule on that motion. It adjourned the hearing until 6 April 2027 because counsel for my co-defendant, Panagiotis Dimitras, was unable to attend.

Alongside these outrageous charges, I am also confronting a violation of a fundamental right: the right to know the accusation in a language I understand.

Delays in the administration of justice are a persistent problem. Regrettably, on this occasion, the delay was also compounded by my co-defendant’s side, which has contributed to the further judicial harassment I am facing.
